Catching and crisp, TNT‘s crime drama stands out for its simplicity. While other shows are rich in intricate characters and genre blends, Murder in the First is basically a remake of Steven Bochco‘s 1995 Murder One series which unravels the mysteries of a single labyrinthine case. The now 70-year-old maestro behind Hill Street Blues and NYPD Blue didn’t bowl off. Detectives Terry English (Taye Diggs, Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice) and Hildy Mulligan (Kathleen Robertson, Beverly Hills, 90210, Boss) inquire into two seemingly unrelated cases.

Strangely enough, the murder of a junkie leads them to Erich Blunt (Tom Felton, Harry Potter film series), a young wizard of Silicon Valley surrounded by high caliber lawyers. He rests on David Hertzberg (Richard Schiff, House of Lies, Manhattan), his personal and corporate attorney, Warren Daniels (James Cromwell, American Horror Story, Betrayal), a famed defense lawyer, and Bill Wilkerson (Steven Weber, 2 Broke Girls, Dallas), his longtime friend, driver and pilot. However, English and Mulligan’ squad works hard to solve the case without turning an eyelash.

Terry English and Hildy Mulligan aren’t just ace San Francisco homicide detectives… They are people dealing with challenges and crises of their own like any other fellow mortal. As Terry is caring for his terminally ill wife, Emily (Anne-Marie Johnson, Bones, Chasing Life), Hildy is at times an overwhelmed divorced mother.
