Well for our dashing knight Galavant (Joshua Sasse) the story didn’t go quite as he would have hoped: his true love, the beautiful Madalena (Mallory Jansen), had been stolen by the evil King Richard (Timothy Omundson) and so he fell into a deep and drunken despair thus losing his reputation and good name as well. As it happens though in all fairy tales, when the hero is at his lowest that is when the chance to turn the tables around presents itself, and in Galavant’s case it did so in the form of Princess Isabella Maria Lucia Elizabetta of Valencia (Karen David), the rightful ruler of the kingdom over which Richard is currently presiding. Princess Isabella has a quest for our brave knight: save her kingdom and defeat the evil King Richard thus reclaiming the maid Madalena as well.
So follow our hero travel the realm, learning again what it is to be a knight and restoring his good name, together with his loyal squire, Sid (Luke Youngblood) while the awful king tries to win the affections of his captured love.
The series will tell us the story of Galavant’s journey through medieval times and the countless hilarious twist and turns that go along with it, and how else could they do so other than through music, as all good stories are told?
Fans of the popular British drama Downton Abbey will be happy to see Sophie McShera in the role of Gwynne, and Hugh Bonneville as the Pirate King.
